Ten-time UFC veteran Nate Quarry (12-4 MMA, 7-3 UFC) is taking on a challenge of a different sort: television.
Sure, Quarry will always be remembered as one of the cast members of the original season of "The Ultimate Fighter," but this time "The Rock" is handling hosting duties.
Quarry has been tabbed as the host of a new series, "American Cagefighter," which debuts Jan. 9 at 10 p.m. PT local time on Comcast SportsNet California.
The half-hour magazine show, which his co-hosted by MMA personality Tamara "Miss Rara" Suguitan, airs weekly and promises appearances from California-based fighters Urijah Faber, Jake Shields, Tito Ortiz, Chris Leben, Mark Munoz, Chad Mendes, and Joseph Benavidez in the first few episodes alone.
According to an official release from the cable channel, "American Cagefighter" is "dedicated to promoting and giving exposure to the rising stars in the sport and will feature fight action from regional MMA events."
California residents can visit CSNCalifornia.com for additional air dates and times.
Quarry hasn't fought since March 2010 when he suffered a TKO loss to Jorge Rivera. The 38-year-old Quarry required facial surgery following the loss and has hinted at a potential retirement, though he has yet to make any official announcements.
In addition to his time on "The Ultimate Fighter," Quarry's career has provided MMA fans with many memorable moments, including a pair of bouts with fellow slugger Pete Sell, a devastating loss to then-middleweight champion Rich Franklin and an infamous 2008 win over Kalib Starnes.
